Summary
The Pastor of Assimilation and Care is first and foremost a shepherd, gifted and called to serve within the local church. Driven by a passion for discipleship, he guides those under his care toward meaningful spiritual growth. He has a keen eye for welcoming newcomers and helping them get involved. He also has a heart of empathy, desiring to support and love people through the difficulties and joys of life. When this role is fulfilled effectively, the people of Emmaus Church will be intentionally cared for, continually encouraged to deepen their relationships with the Lord, and led toward becoming more actively involved in the life of the church.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Track all members and guests along a discipleship/assimilation path to help identify and communicate each persons next step toward full engagement at Emmaus Church
- Collect visitor contact information, intentionally follow up with new guests weekly, and help connect them into small groups, Bible Studies, ongoing ministries, events, etc.
- Oversee our Growth Track membership class and the membership process
- Oversee an annual ministry fair at Emmaus where each ministry area is effectively highlighted in an effort to help our people connect in those ministries
- Regularly reach out to covenant members and attenders to lead them toward deeper connection with the ministries of Emmaus Church
- Develop church-wide fellowship events to help promote greater connection within the church body
- Partner with ministry leaders to understand volunteer needs and assist in creating processes to get those needs met from within the church body
- Collaborate with ministry leaders to create effective assimilation and connection strategies for their ministry areas
- Provide ongoing care for church members, especially around life events (birth, marriage, hospitalizations, death, etc.)
- Periodically teach in discipleship environments and provide counseling to those in our church as needed
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience leading volunteers to active engagement in local church ministry
- Experience helping first time visitors become fully engaged in the life of the local church
- Complete alignment with our statement of faith, doctrine, mission, and core values
- Complete alignment with the Acts 29 Statement of Faith
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading the assimilation ministry of a local church
- Experience with church management/volunteers scheduling software (Church Community Builder preferred)
