About the job Director of Operations
General Description
The Director of Operations will serve as an integral member of the Emmaus Church staff, serving to support many ministry areas. The Director of Operations will directly report to the Pastor of Administration. The Director of Operations will be a full-time, non-exempt employee at Emmaus Church.
Position Purpose
The purpose of this position shall be to steward the ongoing and ever-growing needs in administrative and operational areas in our church. When this role is fulfilled effectively, the pastors and ministry leaders will have assurance that operational and administrative areas are being well-stewarded, allowing them to focus their attention on front-line ministry. Overall, this position will serve to advance the God-given mission of the church.
Duties & Responsibilities
*With the highly flexible nature of work in ministry, it should be noted that all these duties are subject to change as the needs of the church shift over time. The Pastor of Administration will coordinate with the Director of Operations to ensure week-to-week expectations are clear.
-Steward the physical resources of Emmaus (building maintenance, inventory, organization, etc.)
-Manage room set-up and tear-down for weekly discipleship activities and other special events
-Manage purchasing and stocking for disposable and high-use items (coffee bar, refreshments in kitchens, etc.)
-Stock and organize the five kitchens on campus
-Serve as liaison for Emmaus's contracted cleaning company
-Assist with coordination with other outside service providers (plumbers, electricians, pest control, etc.)
-Assist the Pastor of Administration in implementing operational systems, policies, and procedures
-Assist with financial management (accounts payable, offering count processes, expense management, etc.)
-Assist with financial reporting (regular reports for elders, yearly engagement with accounting firm, etc.)
-Assist with other reporting efforts (attendance, engagement, etc.) and internal communications efforts
-Assist with human resource functions (onboarding processes, employee files, etc.)
-Assist with equipping and management of volunteer safety teams
-Provide miscellaneous administrative support to Pastor of Administration, as needed
-Fulfill other duties as assigned by supervisor

-Covenant membership at Emmaus Church
-Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in safe and healthy ways
-Demonstrated ability to handle and solve complex problems
-Highly flexible, able to manage tasks across a broad range of categories
-Proficiency in administrative/organizational tasks
-Ability to take initiative in and ownership of job responsibilities
-Commitment to teachability, excellence, and continuous improvement
-Ability to perform physical tasks necessary to accomplish duties and responsibilities
