Position Overview

emerjence LLC is seeking an IT Database Administrator to support the administration, maintenance, and operation of organizational database environments. This position will use database management systems to organize, store, maintain, and provide secure and reliable access to organizational data.

The IT Database Administrator will work closely with development teams, technical personnel, and end users to identify database requirements, establish appropriate data access, support database changes, and maintain integrated database environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation, analytical skills, and experience working with database technologies and data management processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the administration, operation, and maintenance of organizational databases and database management systems.
  • Create, configure, maintain, and update databases based on business and technical requirements.
  • Gather and analyze user, application, and system database requirements.
  • Coordinate with development teams and end users to determine data access and database functionality requirements.
  • Analyze transaction rates, data volumes, utilization patterns, and other technical factors required to develop and maintain integrated databases.
  • Support database design, implementation, configuration, testing, and ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Test and coordinate database modifications, upgrades, and changes to ensure functionality and system integrity.
  • Monitor database environments and assist with identifying and resolving performance, availability, and data-related issues.
  • Support database troubleshooting, problem diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Assist with database performance monitoring and optimization activities.
  • Support database backup, recovery, availability, and data integrity processes.
  • Coordinate database changes with developers, system administrators, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain technical documentation related to database configurations, requirements, procedures, and changes.
  • Assist with ensuring appropriate database access controls and adherence to organizational security requirements.
  • Support the integration of databases with applications and other enterprise systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience in database administration, database development, data management, information technology, or a related technical field.
  • Experience working with databases and database management systems.
  • Knowledge of database concepts, structures, and data management practices.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing technical or user requirements.
  • Familiarity with database creation, configuration, testing, and maintenance.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with developers, technical personnel, and end users.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage assigned technical responsibilities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting databases within federal government or enterprise IT environments.
  • Familiarity with relational database management systems and SQL.
  • Experience with database performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Knowledge of database backup, recovery, availability, and data integrity practices.
  • Experience supporting database migrations, upgrades, or configuration changes.
  • Understanding of database security, permissions, and access management.
  • Experience supporting integrated databases and enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with database documentation, change management, and configuration management processes.
