Key Account Manager - Branded Seafood Sales (Retail)

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Key Account Manager to drive the growth of our clients branded seafood products within the retail sector. Based in Cavan, Ireland, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and expanding relationships with key retail clients across the country, ensuring the successful placement, promotion, and sales of our premium seafood offerings.
This role requires an individual with a strong track record in FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods), preferably with experience in selling branded food products. You will be tasked with implementing sales strategies to grow revenue and market share, while also maintaining high standards of customer service and product excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Account Management:
- Act as the main point of contact for key retail accounts, managing relationships with buyers, category managers, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term partnerships with existing retail clients to ensure consistent product listings and promotions.
- Ensure clients are fully informed of new product developments, seasonal launches, and promotional activities.
- Sales Growth & Strategy:
- Create and execute sales plans to achieve volume and profit targets, focusing on branded seafood products in the retail market.
- Analyse market trends, consumer behaviour, and sales performance to identify opportunities for product expansion and growth.
- Work with retail clients to plan and execute promotional activities, including in-store marketing and consumer engagement initiatives.
- New Business Development:
- Proactively identify and target potential new retail accounts, including both large supermarket chains and independent retailers.
- Present and sell branded seafood products to new customers, driving increased product distribution and market share.
- Negotiation & Contracts:
- Lead negotiations with retail buyers regarding pricing, product placement, promotional budgets, and other key contract terms.
- Ensure all commercial agreements are met and adhered to, including supply chain management and logistical requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the marketing, supply chain, and product development teams to deliver customer-specific solutions and product innovations.
- Provide feedback from retail clients to internal teams to influence product development and marketing strategies.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Monitor sales performance, forecast demand, and report regularly on account progress to senior management.
- Track key metrics such as revenue growth, market share, and promotional effectiveness to optimize account performance.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of sales experience in the FMCG industry with a focus on branded food products.
- Proven success in managing key retail accounts in Ireland, with knowledge of the seafood or broader food sector a strong advantage.
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence decision-makers at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with experience in sales forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic sales plans, with a focus on long-term growth and customer satisfaction.
- Education:
- Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience will be considered.
- Other Requirements:
- Full, clean driving license and willingness to travel regularly within Ireland.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.
