The Opportunity

You will play an important role advising clients across the energy and infrastructure sector on major projects and transactions. Your work will span project development, energy transactions, acquisitions and disposals of energy assets, as well as legal and regulatory issues affecting major infrastructure projects. You will work closely with senior lawyers and clients while contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise significant energy and infrastructure clients on project development matters, including offtake and power purchase agreements, connection agreements and construction documents.
  • Draft and negotiate operating and maintenance arrangements, development agreements and energy and green product trades.
  • Advise on acquisitions and disposals of energy assets, including legal due diligence, transaction documentation and completion.
  • Provide legal and regulatory analysis on energy and infrastructure projects, including regulatory approvals, risk allocation and interface issues.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, including pitches, industry events and client seminars.

About You

  • Australian or New Zealand admitted Lawyer / Associate with experience advising on a broad range of project development transactions, ideally within the energy and infrastructure sector and gained at a well-regarded international or Australian firm.
  • Strong technical capability with the ability to work independently and effectively manage smaller matters and elements of larger transactions.
  • Excellent commercial judgment and an interest in developing strong, long-term client relationships.
  • A collaborative mindset with a genuine interest in mentoring and supporting others.
  • An interest in business development and building a professional profile within the energy and infrastructure sector.
