The Drilling Supervisor / Senior Drilling Supervisor with extensive experience in semisubmersible deepwater drilling operations will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the drilling operations, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the well plan. The role requires a strong background in managing complex deepwater drilling projects and a proven ability to lead teams in challenging offshore environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of deepwater drilling activities, ensuring all activities are performed safely and efficiently.
  • Lead the rig team and coordinate with onshore support to execute drilling programs according to plan.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Monitor drilling parameters and make real-time decisions to optimize performance and mitigate risks.
  • Conduct pre-job safety meetings and ensure all team members are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Prepare detailed daily drilling reports and communicate effectively with onshore teams regarding progress and any issues encountered.
  • Manage and supervise all third-party service providers involved in the drilling operations.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of drilling equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Handle well control situations and other emergencies as they arise, following established protocols.
  • Participate in after-action reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance future operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid IWCF Level 4 Certification (Subsea/Surface) is required.
  • OPITO BOSIET Certification (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) or equivalent.
  • HSE certification for critical positions in drilling operations.
  • Minimum with 8 years of experience in offshore drilling operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience specifically in deepwater or ultra-deepwater drilling using semisubmersible rigs preferable in challenging environments (e.g., high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) wells, managed pressure drilling (MPD), etc.).
  • Proficient in the use of drilling software such as OpenWells, WellPlan, Compass, etc.
  • Strong understanding of well control principles, subsea BOP operations, and drilling fluids management.
  • Experience with rig move operations, including the use of semi-submersible rigs and drillships.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities in high-pressure environments.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with onshore teams and third-party service providers.
  • Willingness to work offshore on a rotational basis.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding work in challenging offshore conditions.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in drilling technologies and methodologies.
