Geologist (CCS Specialist)
About the job Geologist (CCS Specialist)
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and identify potential CO2 storage sites, focusing on their geological and petrophysical properties
- Detailed assessment of caprock integrity, porosity, permeability and storage capacity
- Build, refine and update 3D static geological models integrating seismic, well-logs and core data. Analyse depositional environments, fault system and stratigraphic relationships to ensure reservoir suitability
- Assess risk such as fault reactivation, induced seismicity and potential leakage pathways
- Collaborate with Reserve Engineer to design CO2 injection strategies, generate optimised Storage Development Plan and detailed MMV framework
- Support overall containment risk assessment
Qualification:
- Bachelors or masters degree in Geology, Geoscience or a related discipline. PhD is a plus. Certification in CCS-specific programs is a plus.
- Minimum 15 years of working experiences with last 3 years in CCS or CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)
- Proven expertise in geological modelling software (Petrel or Geology Designer)
- Expertise in seismic interpretation, well log analysis and core data evaluation
- Familiar with geomechanical and geochemical processes related to CO2 storage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communications and collaboration abilities
- Adaptability to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
