We are hiring a Welding/NDT Engineer on behalf of our client for a position based in Pasir Gudang.
Responsibilities:
NDT Operations & Inspections
- Oversee and manage all Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities and operations.
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain NDT testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable inspections.
- Conduct material testing, weld inspections, and structural assessments using various NDT techniques (e.g., UT, RT, MT, PT, VT).
- Interpret test results and generate comprehensive inspection reports with findings and recommendations.
Technical Support & Compliance
- Provide technical expertise on all NDT matters across projects.
- Act as the NDT Coordinator, ensuring that all welding and NDT activities comply with industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and review NDT procedures for assigned projects.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API, ISO, DNV, ABS).
Project Coordination & Client Liaison
- Work closely with welding engineers, inspectors, and project teams to ensure seamless integration of NDT into fabrication and construction workflows.
- Coordinate with clients, third-party inspectors, and regulatory bodies on NDT requirements and approvals.
- Review client specifications and project scopes to ensure alignment with technical requirements.
Quality & Safety Assurance
- Support QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) compliance by assisting in subcontractor assessments and audits.
- Ensure that all welding and NDT procedures align with safety regulations and best practices.
- Identify and troubleshoot defects, non-conformances, and welding-related issues to ensure structural integrity and quality assurance.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Welding, NDT, Ocean Engineering, and Structural disciplines.
- Strong expertise in welding inspection and NDT techniques (e.g., UT, RT, MT, PT, VT).
- Experience working with major industry players such as ENI, PETRONAS, or MMHE is preferred.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is required.
- Must be familiar with international welding and NDT standards such as ASME, AWS, API, ISO, DNV, ABS.
- Relevant certifications in NDT (e.g., ASNT, PCN, CSWIP, ISO 9712 Level II or III) and Welding Inspection (e.g., CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2, AWS-CWI) are highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with welding processes, procedures, and metallurgy.
- Strong problem-solving skills in welding defect analysis and NDT troubleshooting.
