Position: MOPU Engineer

Contract Duration: 6 months, with potential for renewal.

We are looking for an experienced MOPU Engineer with a solid background in offshore drilling operations, field work, and Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU) projects. The ideal candidate will have completed at least one full-cycle MOPU conversion and possess strong knowledge of PETRONAS guidelines, standards, and technical requirements. This role will support all phases of MOPU development, including contracting, drilling integration, conversion, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support contracting, engineering, construction, and operational phases of MOPU projects with a specific focus on MOPU conversions from jack-ups or other platforms.
  • Provide hands-on offshore technical support for drilling integration, tie-in operations, and topside installations.
  • Ensure all design, engineering, and execution activities strictly adhere to PETRONAS Technical Standards (PTS), Procedures (PPS), and Guidelines.
  • Interface with drilling, marine, structural, and production teams to ensure safe and effective integration of drilling systems into MOPU facilities.
  • Conduct engineering reviews and verification of drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • PETRONAS guidelines and upstream asset integrity framework
    • API (RP 2A, RP 75, Spec 6A/16A/B/C)
    • DNV (DNV-ST-F119, DNV-OS-A101)
    • ABS MOUs, IMO MODU Code, SOLAS, MARPOL
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS, ALARP workshops, and offshore risk assessments.
  • Liaise with PETRONAS representatives, classification societies, and third-party auditors for project approvals and documentation.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure conformance to PETRONAS Project Delivery requirements and Local Content obligations.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical, Petroleum, Marine, or Offshore Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years offshore oil & gas experience, including:
    • Minimum 1 full-cycle MOPU conversion project (mandatory)
    • At least 5 years of offshore hands-on field experience
    • Minimum 3-years work experience with rig owner/MOPU contractor
  • Proven knowledge of MOPU design, conversion, and operations, including well tie-ins and drilling integration.
  • Familiarity with PETRONAS' PPPG, PPS, PTS, and PCSB governance structures.
  • Strong understanding of offshore drilling and marine systems, including BOPs, risers, well control equipment, and SIMOPS planning.
  • Valid offshore certifications: BOSIET, HUET, OGUK (or equivalent), and IWCF/IADC Well Control certification preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong leadership and coordination skills in multi-disciplinary, multicultural environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in marginal field or early production system developments under PETRONAS.
  • Familiarity with PETRONAS project delivery workflow (FEED to commissioning).
  • Excellent documentation, stakeholder engagement, and compliance reporting abilities.
