The Marine Superintendent / CSR is responsible for supervising and monitoring all marine and offshore operations, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations, class requirements, and internal standards.

The role involves oversight of vessel readiness, safety, and performance, as well as coordination between shipyard, project, and offshore teams. Acting as a Company Site Representative (CSR), the Marine Superintendent ensures that marine activities including vessel operations, mobilization, load-out, towing, and installation are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved procedures.

Description

  • Supervise and monitor marine operations, including vessel mobilization, towing, load-out, and offshore activities.
  • Act as the Company Site Representative (CSR) during marine operations to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.
  • Review and verify vessel certifications, class status, and compliance with IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, and Flag State requirements.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and audits, ensuring seaworthiness, safety readiness, and operational integrity.
  • Oversee marine contractor performance and ensure adherence to project and HSE standards.
  • Liaise with shipyards, vessel owners, marine warranty surveyors (MWS), and project teams regarding operational readiness.
  • Review marine procedures, method statements, and risk assessments for accuracy and compliance.
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on marine operations, vessel capability, and interface management.
  • Ensure that all marine operations are executed in line with company, client, and regulatory expectations.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the maritime or offshore oil & gas industry, including 5 years in a senior marine role (e.g., Master Mariner, Chief Officer, or Marine Superintendent).
  • Valid STCW Master/Chief Officer license or equivalent professional qualification.
  • BOSIET / HUET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training).
  • Valid Offshore Medical Certificate (e.g., OGUK).
  • Internal auditing or marine assurance training (advantageous).
  • Experience with OVID/SIRE inspections, MWS interface, or marine assurance programs.
  • Familiarity with DP (Dynamic Positioning) vessels, heavy-lift barges, or offshore construction support vessels.
  • Certification in ISM/ISPS internal auditing or marine safety management.
  • In-depth knowledge of offshore marine operations, including anchor handling, towing, load-out, and installation.
  • Strong understanding of OCIMF, IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, and classification society rules.
  • Experience in conducting vessel inspections, audits, or assurance reviews.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work offshore and travel to project or vessel locations as required.
