Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing engineering expertise and technical support related to hull structures in offshore oil and gas projects, including floating production units, platforms, and marine vessels.
  • Review and evaluate design drawings, calculations, and documentation for hull structure integrity, stability, and strength in accordance with classification and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance of hull design and fabrication with PETRONAS Technical Requirements, project specifications, and relevant international standards.
  • Provide technical input during design, fabrication, inspection, and installation phases to ensure structural integrity and safe operation of hull systems.
  • Coordinate with naval architecture, marine, structural, and safety disciplines to ensure proper integration of hull systems with topsides and marine facilities.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical evaluations for hull-related components and modifications.
  • Support construction and fabrication teams by resolving technical issues and verifying compliance during hull inspections, testing, and certifications.
  • Liaise with classification societies, regulatory bodies, and third-party verification agencies to ensure hull-related approvals and certifications are obtained.
  • Monitor and assess hull condition, corrosion protection, and maintenance programs to ensure long-term structural integrity.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and improvement of engineering practices related to hull design, fabrication, and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in upstream oil and gas projects.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Hull Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of hull design, analysis, and fabrication for offshore structures and floating systems.
  • Familiarity with classification rules and international standards (ABS, DNV, API, ISO, IMO, etc.).
  • Excellent technical review, coordination, and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to ensure hull structural integrity and compliance under complex offshore project conditions.
