Cost Controller (Miri, Sarawak)

Position : Cost Controller

Industry : Oil & Gas

Scope of Works:

• Prepare and monitor annual budgets, including WP&B, AFE, and ABR.
• Analyze budget performance against approved budgets and explain any variances.
• Prepare monthly accruals, cost reports, and presentations for management and stakeholders.
• Track project expenditures and ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the system.
• Prepare Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and support cost control activities.
• Monitor OPEX and CAPEX spending to ensure projects remain within approved budgets.
• Identify cost variances and recommend corrective actions to achieve project cost targets.
• Support project sanctions, forecasting, and change management in line with company governance requirements.
• Coordinate with contract holders and contract administrators on:
  • Contract extensions and amendments
  • Approved Contract Value (ACV) utilization
  • Contract expiry and closure
• Highlight potential contract and cost exposures to protect the company's interests.
• Liaise with JV Partners, COMPANY, and auditors on budget and cost-related matters.
• Ensure compliance with COMPANY procurement standards and internal procedures.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Experience using financial systems such as SAP and SMART GEP.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with PETRONAS Procurement Standards and WP&B processes is an added advantage.
