Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing technical expertise in corrosion control and materials integrity management for upstream oil and gas projects.
  • Develop, review, and implement corrosion management strategies, monitoring programs, and mitigation measures in compliance with project and client requirements.
  • Evaluate materials selection, corrosion allowances, and protective systems during design, construction, and operational phases.
  • Review and validate design documents, material specifications, and vendor submissions to ensure compliance with PETRONAS Technical Requirements and international standards.
  • Provide technical support for the selection and application of corrosion inhibitors, coatings, cathodic protection systems, and other preventive technologies.
  • Conduct corrosion risk assessments, root cause analyses, and failure investigations to identify corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, materials, and inspection teams to ensure consistent corrosion management practices across the project.
  • Support inspection and maintenance programs by defining corrosion monitoring locations, frequencies, and techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, reports, and databases related to corrosion monitoring and mitigation activities.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset integrity and corrosion management effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering.
  • Registered Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in upstream oil and gas projects.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as an Upstream Corrosion Engineer or equivalent role.
  • Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, materials degradation, and integrity management in offshore and onshore environments.
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards (NACE, API, ASTM, ASME, ISO, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills for managing corrosion-related issues.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in complex offshore project environments.
