Our client has an opening in their procurement team for a Buyer.

Be part of team but take complete responsibility for certain product categories. Your job will be to grow the profitability of your assigned products while striking the perfect balance between running too lean on inventory versus being overstocked.

You will analyze lots of data, negotiate better prices, become an excel expert, work with the sales team to land big customer deals while finding ways to market and merchandize your products better.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Daily monitoring of stock levels/sales rates and ensure POs are created timely to balance outs of stock rates with stock turn rates
  • Build relationships and negotiate with key suppliers ensure ARKs prices are competitive, with best possible payment terms and rebates terms
  • Manage the overall supply chain -- build relationships with multiple transporters, manage cross border process to ensure smooth supply chain by SA suppliers
  • Collaborate very closely with Sales Manager and sales team to help facilitate large deals with customers, negotiate special prices and expedite when quantities required for large deals exceeds normal stock levels
  • Collaborate with marketing team to provide inputs on product specials, promotional flyers, social media marketing efforts, etc

Requirements

  • Excellent negotiation skills, natural and intuitive deal maker
  • Very strong analytical skills, ideal candidate would be very familiar with the more advanced features of MS Excel (e.g. pivot tables, v-lookup, sum-ifs, etc)

  • Must have previous experience as buyer in construction or FMCG industry minimum of 2 years related experience no exceptions
