A leading company in the logistics and terminal operations industry is looking for an experienced ICT Network and Security Engineer to join their team. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust network infrastructure and security protocols to support uninterrupted terminal operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network management, security solutions, and compliance, and will contribute to strategic IT security initiatives, risk mitigation, and compliance management in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Network Infrastructure Management:
    • Design, implement, and maintain wireless and fixed network infrastructure to support terminal operations.
    • Monitor and optimize network performance, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues efficiently.
    • Oversee upgrades and expansions of network hardware and software, ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
    • Perform physical tasks, including opening manholes and installing network infrastructure (network cabinets, cabling, etc.).
  • Network Security:
    • Implement and manage network security protocols and solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs.
    • Ensure compliance with leading security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls).
    • Proactively identify and mitigate security risks through regular assessments, monitoring, and patch management.
    • Conduct regular network security audits and vulnerability scans, ensuring timely remediation of identified risks.
  • Compliance and Governance:
    • Align network and security policies with group IT security standards.
    • Manage compliance initiatives, including periodic audits and reporting on cybersecurity metrics.
    • Coordinate and conduct user awareness programs to promote a culture of security.
    • Schedule and oversee penetration testing, aligning results with the organizations cybersecurity scorecard.
  • Collaboration and Incident Management:
    • Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to implement security enhancements and infrastructure improvements.
    • Lead incident response activities, ensuring rapid identification, containment, and resolution of security breaches.
    • Develop and maintain detailed incident reports and post-mortem analyses.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate documentation of network architecture, configurations, and security policies.
    • Prepare detailed reports on network performance, security compliance, and risk assessments for the IT Manager and senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CEH.
  • ISO 27001 or other relevant cybersecurity certifications are a plus.

Knowledge and Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in network and security engineering roles.
  • Hands-on experience with network security tools, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection solutions.
  • Expertise in LAN/WAN, VLANs, Wi-Fi standards, and network management tools.
  • Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards, such as ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and CIS Controls.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and optimizing network performance, including physical network infrastructure management.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment is an advantage.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work odd hours and be on standby as needed.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to engage in physical tasks such as installing network hardware, cabling, and performing infrastructure upgrades.
  • Comfortable working at heights when required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams.
