Job Title: Enterprise Architect
Location: London (Onsite 2 days per week)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to join a forward-thinking organisation in the energy sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the organisations strategic IT direction by leveraging data insights, enhancing operating models, assessing business capabilities, and optimising the value chain. Based in London with two days onsite per week, you will work with senior stakeholders to drive transformative change, ensuring that data and technology solutions align seamlessly with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Alignment

  • Align IT strategies and initiatives with the organisations overall business goals.
  • Translate high-level business objectives into actionable technology roadmaps.
  • Ensure IT systems and strategies align with current and future business needs.

2. Architecture Design

  • Develop and maintain enterprise-wide architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Design and oversee systems, applications, data, and technology architectures.
  • Define standards, guidelines, and best practices for technology use across the organisation.
  • Model complex systems and architectures using ArchiMate or similar languages to ensure clear and consistent documentation.

3. Technology Roadmapping

  • Create and maintain multi-year technology roadmaps to ensure scalability, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Identify and assess emerging technologies and their organisational impact.
  • Manage system lifecycles, including upgrades, replacements, and retirements.

4. Data Strategy and Insights

  • Develop and implement data architecture strategies to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure data is integrated across systems to enable seamless reporting and analytics.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance data quality, governance, and security.
  • Leverage data insights to inform capability assessments and strategic decisions.

5. Business Capability Maturity Assessments

  • Evaluate the maturity of key business capabilities to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Develop frameworks to measure and enhance capability effectiveness.
  • Ensure business capabilities act as enablers for strategic initiatives.

6. Current and Target Operating Model (COM & TOM) Development

  • Conduct in-depth landscape assessments to evaluate current organisational and technological states.
  • Define and implement target operating models to support strategic goals.
  • Bridge the gap between current and desired future states with actionable roadmaps.

7. Value Chain Development

  • Link value chain activities to underlying business capabilities.
  • Develop and optimise value chain models that highlight capability alignment and operational efficiencies.
  • Provide actionable insights for enhancing the organisations value delivery processes.

8. Governance

  • Establish governance processes to ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and policies.
  • Guide decision-making around technology investments and architectural changes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritise IT projects and initiatives.

9. Cost Optimisation

  • Identify opportunities to reduce IT costs by optimising resource utilisation.
  • Minimise redundancy through the integration and consolidation of systems.
  • Drive cost-effective technology investments.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to assess IT supplier contracts and ensure value for money.
  • Participate in IT supplier selection and contract negotiation processes to secure cost-efficient solutions.
  • Regularly review supplier performance to identify potential savings and improvements.

10. Collaboration

  • Act as a bridge between business and IT to ensure mutual understanding of priorities.
  • Partner with solution architects, technical teams, and business leaders.
  • Provide oversight to ensure consistency and integration across various projects.

11. Problem Solving and Innovation

  • Address complex organisational challenges with innovative technology and data-driven solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and customer experience enhancements.
  • Mitigate technical risks and ensure operational excellence.

12. Enterprise Architecture Frameworks and Tools

  • Leverage established frameworks such as TOGAF or custom models to structure architectural efforts.
  • Use tools to model, document, and visualise the enterprise architecture and data landscape.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify discrepancies between current and desired states.
  • Utilise ArchiMate modelling language to communicate complex architectures effectively to diverse stakeholders.

What Were Looking For:

  • Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect, ideally within the energy or utilities sector.
  • Strong expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks, business capability modelling, and ArchiMate modelling languages.
  • Hands-on experience with data architecture and strategies to support business transformation.
  • A track record of creating value chain models and aligning them to business capabilities.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to deliver large-scale transformation projects.
