Job Summary
The Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic will fulfill general fabrication and installation duties, working under the direction of the division supervisor or site foreman. Projects are typically custom ordered to meet specific requirements, though many tasks are repetitive in nature. Sheet metal projects are most often fabricated from materials less than 1/8 in thickness.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers and co-workers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
• Enforce and comply with rules, regulations, and policies as set out by the company, Occupational Health & Safety, and applicable governing authorities
• Receive training for tasks associated with sheet metal work
• Follow job procedures and safe work practices to complete tasks safely
• Perform a variety of sheet metal fabrication or installation processes to meet customer needs, specifications, and quality requirements
• Ensure required materials and supplies are ordered ahead of time
• Maintain complete records of time and materials used
• Share training and knowledge with new workers and apprentices
• Maintain a safe, clean work area, including clean-up as part of project completion
• Attend safety/toolbox meetings, perform safety inspections, and participate in the safety program

Skills & Qualifications

• Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic certification (required)
• Experience in commercial sheet metal fabrication and installation
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and best practices
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance
