About the job Head of Underwriting
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer all core functions in underwriting department.
- Set up and Maintain an effective and smooth standard operation Procedures in underwriting department for supporting the companys daily business operation.
- Ensure the underwriting operation is met with all compliance requirements in connection with local regulators or overseas partners.
- Ensure the companys growth and profitability from all lines of business.
- Prepare underwriting guidelines for the company and authority limits to relevant staff in UW Department, subject to be approved by CEO.
- Provide product or technical training to all the staff in the department, and to all the business channels upon request.
- Keep motivating all staff in the department and create a culture of teamwork spirit.
- Keep motivating all staff to remember and respect the companys vision, mission and core value set.
- Ensure that daily work runs smoothly and are solved reasonably and professionally.
- Arrange and propose terms for the companys reinsurance treaty on an annual basis with the CEO.
- Check and verify all reports under underwriting department are correctly produced and well controlled both in hard files and online files, including Premium Register, Treaty Risk Bordereaux , Facultative Reinsurance Bordereaux, Co-insurance Bordereaux and MEFs Business Statistics (Monthly, Quarterly and Year-Ended Reports).
- Handle all product approvals for submission to Ministry of Economy and Finance, including Khmer translation.
- Ensure that reinsurance capacity is fully supported from both local or overseas reinsurance partners prior to binding the terms and conditions.
- Handle and supervise the financial institution business channel and co insurance and ensure that the premium meets the companys target.
- Delegate his/her Underwriting Authority to his/her underwriting personnel.
- Assist other UW members if their works are overloaded.
- Other tasks assigned by the CEO.
Requirement:
- Minimum bachelors degree from reputable institutions;
- Minimum 5 years working experience in Underwriting department of general insurance company or broker
- Minimum 3 years in the management role
- Strong Commitment to the work and able to work independently under reasonable pressure
- Good teamwork and leadership skill
- Be prudent and has Business driven mindset at the same time
- Dynamic and able to adjust to the new working and living environment.
- Fluent business English ability, Chinese language will be a plus.
