Procurement Specialist/Buyer

Our client, SOLX, is looking for a Procurement Specialist/Buyer.

Job Overview:

The Procurement Specialist/Buyer is responsible for executing purchase orders, managing supplier communication, and ensuring ERP/MRP data accuracy. This role coordinates closely with planning, logistics, warehousing, and production to ensure material availability and supply continuity. As the primary liaison with suppliers, the Procurement Specialist/Buyer tracks orders, resolves issues, and supports negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase Order Management & Supplier Coordination
  • Generate and manage purchase orders (POs) based on MRP recommendations and manual inputs.
  • Ensure on-time order placement, confirmation, and tracking, proactively addressing delays.
  • Serve as the primary contact for supplier inquiries, issue resolution, andrelationship management.
  • Support negotiations and keep management informed of key transaction details and risks.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records, contracts, and data within ERP/MRP systems.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Align with planning to ensure orders meet production schedules.
  • Work with logistics to coordinate inbound shipments.
  • Communicate with warehousing to confirm inventory receipt, resolve discrepancies, and enforce FIFO.
  • Process purchase requisitions and ensure proper approvals before executing POs.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to share supplier updates, gather feedback, and support organizational goals.

Data Management & System Accuracy

  • Maintain clean and accurate data within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Monitor MRP recommendations and flag inconsistencies.
  • Track PO progress, invoice matching, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Work with accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies.

Supplier Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor supplier performance and escalate recurring issues.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Ensure contract compliance and adherence to terms.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Experience & Education:

  • 3+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in manufacturing.
  • BBA Materials Management preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong Microsoft Office, particularly Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of PO processing, supplier management, and procurement workflows.
