Our client, BasePoint Capital is looking for a Paralegal
Founded in 2009, BasePoint Capital is a fast-growing, specialty finance direct lender that provides asset-based credit facilities and other sources of financing. The legal team is looking for a seasoned paralegal to join our growing family of industry veterans. This role will focus on a wide array of private credit transactions, including asset-backed loans, structured credit, lender finance and opportunistic investments.
Location: San Juan, Puerto Rico
Work Setup: In-office
Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000 annually (Entry Level)
Responsibilities:
- Focused on creating and maintaining documents, records, and filings for a multitude of BasePoint entities.
- Draft and distribute trade documentation between administrator and internal stakeholders.
- You will be a relationship contact to different functions within the BasePoint organization, local teams, offshore entities, and our third-party legal service providers.
- Inventory all open and pending legal department requests to ensure timely responses by legal department, this will include preparing weekly legal dept. agenda to flag and prioritize open requests.
- Support daily legal and regulatory searches delivered on a daily basis for each counterparty.
- Support ongoing legal projects including updating, tracking and flagging UCC filings through the WKLS system, updating daily alerts with new counter-party information; and various ad hoc legal tracking projects.
- Support the human resources team to update office disclosures, employment practices and diligence responses.
- Provide support in connection with transactional closings, including updating files and internal records when requested.
- Assist Legal team with research of general legal issues.
- Partner with Legal and Operations teams to assist with contracts management system.
- Draft consents, resolutions and various corporate governance documents and provide assistance with preparing and routing corporate resolutions and other
documents for signature. - Maintain excellent working relationships with business partners to ensure that their legal and business needs are satisfied.
- Support and manage a variety of ad hoc projects within the team as they arise.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in business, finance, or a related field with legal knowledge.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with computerized databases and on-line services.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Superior interpersonal skills to communicate with other attorneys, business partners, corporate personnel and board directors.
- Strong analytical problem solving and research acumen.
- Excellent organizational skills, deadline driven, but always focused on the details.
- Ability to work independently and proactively as well as part of a team.
- A strong work ethic.
- Able to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Comprehensive knowledge of MS Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio and PowerPoint), Litera Workshare, Wolters Kluwer Lien Solutions, Docusign
and Adobe.
