Job Summary:
Our client, Solx is seeking for an experienced and strategic Director, Facilities who will be responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and optimization of all physical facilities, equipment, and infrastructure supporting our Aguadilla site operations. This role ensures the companys facilities are safe, efficient, and fully compliant with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The Director, Facilities oversees a team of facilities managers, office managers, EHS managers, technicians, and service providers to maintain and enhance operations at our manufacturing plant, warehouse, and corporate office, supporting our commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of all company facilities, including manufacturing plant, warehouse, and office spaces.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure all facilities and equipment are operating at optimal efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards across all locations.
  • Manage the ongoing upkeep and maintenance of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, lighting, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of company facilities, including energy consumption, waste management, and water usage.
  • Oversee the safety programs across all company facilities, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, local safety standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Lead initiatives to maintain a safe working environment, promoting workplace safety through training, risk assessments, and emergency preparedness plans.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing facilities team, including facilities managers, technicians, and external contractors.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture focused on achieving operational excellence and maintaining facility uptime.
  • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities to ensure staff remain knowledgeable about industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors, service providers, and vendors to ensure quality service delivery and adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for specialized services, such as security, cleaning, landscaping, and waste disposal, to maintain facility cleanliness and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Masters degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Facility Manager (CFM), LEED) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of facilities management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in solar energy or other sustainable technologies, is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale facilities, budgets, and teams in complex, fast- paced environments.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Low ego.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and security systems.
  • Expertise in facility management software and building management systems (BMS) for monitoring and optimizing facility performance.
  • In-depth understanding of environmental sustainability practices, energy efficiency, and renewable energy solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of accountability and performance excellence.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Deep understanding of OSHA regulations, building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to develop and enforce safety programs that prioritize employee well-being and comply with relevant laws.
