About the job Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a qualified, customer-focused Mechanical Engineer to join our client's team. This role is responsible for ensuring production equipment and processes are correctly designed and set up to reach all cost, time, and quality-related requirements. The ideal candidate will be a strong professional who can effectively support our production, quality, EH&S, and operations teams in the design, operation, control, and optimization of processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring production equipment and processes are correctly designed and set up to reach all cost, time, and quality-related requirements.
- Supporting our production, quality, EH&S & Operations teams in the design, operation, control and optimization of processes.
- Providing mechanical technical guidance for operations to support the development of new products.
- Providing mechanical technical guidance for operations to optimize manufacturing processes to lower costs and improve the internal knowledge of manufacturing personnel.
- Providing technical support to our customer base, as well as sales and marketing efforts.
- Proposing and participating in the design and commissioning of machinery improvements and capital equipment projects.
- Collecting and analyzing production data to propose and implement improvement actions with existing products.
- Maintaining and supporting Quality, EH&S, and Operation requirements.
- Implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives (Kaizen, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Sustainable Development).
- Supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and business processes.
- Ensuring that the installed production technology is meeting all relevant internal and external EH&S standards, Operations, and SD functions.
- Supporting a safety culture by following all safety rules including reporting all incidents and near misses.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with welding and brazing of discreet parts is preferred.
- Solid process engineering background with experience in metalworking processes, such as rolling, slitting, melting, casting, power press forming, and tooling operations is an advantage.
- Ability to design, build, and debug machine components, fixtures, and tooling.
- Experience with organizing and managing multiple projects.
- Critical / analytical thinking.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization & customer base; collaborate as part of a team and provide Engineering technical support for everyday challenges.
- High level of mechanical aptitude and desire to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
- Proven problem-solving skills, such as the ability to establish root cause and develop, test, and implement solutions.
- Ability to perform analytical and metallurgical testing.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Access, and PowerPoint).
- ISO 9001/ISO14001 knowledge preferred.
- Auto Cad / SolidWorks / Inventor preferred.
- Proven ability to analyze/interpret data and compile reports.
