About the job Project Manager

Project Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Analyzing project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations and appropriate process for accomplishing the business objectives
  • Identifying and scheduling project deliverables, milestones, and required activities and tasks
  • Providing leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle, and confer with project staff to outline work plan
  • Establishing work plan and staffing for project activities, iterations or phases, and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Implement project communication plan
  • Performing risk assessment and implementing mitigation plans and controls
  • Monitoring project activities, ensuring the currency, quality and integrity of the information, while providing consistency in content and look and feel across the enterprise
  • Ensuring that project goals are accomplished and are in line with business objectives
  • Assigning duties, responsibilities and scope of authority to project personnel
  • Directing and coordinating activities of project personnel to ensure that the project progresses on schedule and within budget.
  • Drafting and reviewing status reports prepared by project personnel, and modifying schedules or plans as required
  • Continuously benchmarking project management performance to identify improvements and achieve higher capability maturity in project and portfolio management

A project is defined as a temporary endeavor to address a fixed business problem using a defined schedule and budget.

Educational Requirement:

Bachelors Degree or Post Graduate Qualification in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Finance and Business Management

Relevant Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines such as technology architecture, solution architecture, network management, application development, middleware design, information analysis, database management or operations management, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated competency in a project management role involving the execution of multiple projects or a large project
  • At least 3 years of BU or BU-facing experience, with sensitivity and commitment to business problem solving
  • Demonstrated experience in progressive team leadership responsibilities preferably in cross-functional teams across the organization and within complex contexts
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in successfully utilizing soft skills (effective communication, problem solving and decision making, coaching/mentoring)
  • Bank-specific training or experience in Retail/Corporate Banking, Loans and Mortgage, Consumer Financing, Wealth Management and Marketing desired
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies and certifications an advantage, but not a requirement.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to lead and motivate others; demonstrating empathy and knowledge of personality types
  • Working knowledge of at least one delivery methodology or framework
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a political environment and to interacting with senior leadership
  • Knowledge of project planning tools
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Expertise in setting and managing customer expectations
  • Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills, because this is a highly visible position with substantial impact
  • Strong business acumen, including industry- and domain-specific knowledge of the organization and its business units. Familiarity with industry trends and innovation, and how other organizations are using them to drive digital business.
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills in an environment where this role may not directly control resources
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
  • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a project resource plan that ensures that the right people are in the right place doing the right things at the right time
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual strategic planning and execution skills. Familiarity with financial analysis and associated reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with the use of reporting tools to monitor project activities and analyze project performance.
  • Familiarity with more than 1 software development methodology
  • Knowledge of retail and consumer banking processes
  • Knowledge of regulatory environment, processes and circulars
  • Knowledge of IT and Ops risk management
  • Knowledge of budgeting and Net Present Valuations
