Head, Cloud Engineering

JOB PURPOSE: 

• The Cloud Engineering Head leads the Bank's cloud strategy, implementing cloud solutions within the IT infrastructure while ensuring seamless integration, performance optimization, and adherence to security and compliance.
• This role plays a key part in driving innovation and business alignment through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Guiding the organization through cloud migration, the Cloud Engineering Head requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, technical expertise, and collaboration skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud strategy aligned with the business objectives of the Bank, collaborating closely with the Chief Information Officer and other key stakeholders to identify business unit-specific cloud requirements and formulate tailored strategies.
• Lead the planning and execution of cloud migration projects, ensuring seamless transition from on-premises infrastructure to cloud environments while defining clear milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and success of the cloud strategy implementation.
• Oversee the day-to-day management and operation of cloud infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability, while monitoring and analyzing cloud usage and performance metrics to identify areas for optimization and cost reduction, effectively managing a team, their workload, and deployments.
• Implement best practices and industry standards for cloud security, compliance, and governance to protect sensitive data and ensure regulatory compliance, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to implement cloud infrastructure enhancements and upgrades in alignment with business needs and objectives.
• Develop and implement strategies to effectively manage and optimize cloud costs while maximizing value and performance, establishing budgetary controls and cost allocation mechanisms to track and manage cloud expenses across different business units and projects.
• Define a comprehensive cloud strategy aligned with the Banks business goals and develop a roadmap for cloud adoption considering security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Execute the strategy by collaborating with cross-functional teams and leading the migration of legacy systems and applications to the cloud while ensuring seamless integration of cloud services and minimizing disruption.
• Optimize existing applications for cloud-native architecture and establish robust security practices for cloud environments, implementing identity and access management (IAM) controls and designing and implementing robust backup and recovery strategies.
• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, exploring serverless computing, containerization, and AI/ML capabilities to pilot innovative solutions to enhance banking services.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and benefits of cloud transformation to senior management, aligning business units, IT teams, and external stakeholders around the cloud vision, and fostering collaboration to build consensus for successful implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or any related field.
• Preferably with cloud certifications from major providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Strong technical expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficient in cloud migration methodologies, tools, and best practices, with hands-on experience in planning, executing, and optimizing large-scale cloud migration projects.
• In-depth understanding of security principles, regulatory compliance requirements, and risk management practices relevant to cloud environments.
• Actual work experience with ITIL 4.0 and Agile Methodologies
