JOB SUMMARY:

The SQL Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and of SQL databases. The role includes planning and development of the databases, troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users, and ensuring data remains consistent across the database and easily accessible by authorized users.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade SQL database servers and related software.
  • Ensure database backups are performed regularly and recovery procedures are in place.
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of the database.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve slow-running queries.
  • Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security.
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection regulations.
  • Conduct regular security audits.
  • Design and implement database schemas, tables, procedures, and permissions.
  • Manage data migration, transformation, and loading (ETL).
  • Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an SQL Database Administrator or similar role.
  • Experience with database administration for SQL Server.
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL and SQL Server.
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization.
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.
  • Proficiency in backup, restore, and recovery models.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with Windows server and Linux systems.
