About the Role Duncan & Ross is retained by a leading petrochemical client on Saudi Arabia's Eastern Coast to source a Subject Matter Expert in Data Management, Governance, and AI. This is a hands-on advisory role requiring deep technical and governance expertise — you will design and implement the frameworks, policies, and processes that govern how the client manages, uses, and derives value from its data assets, including AI-generated insights.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement enterprise data management frameworks covering data quality, metadata, master data, and data lifecycle
  • Develop and operationalise data governance structures — including policies, standards, roles, responsibilities, and stewardship models
  • Define governance processes for AI and machine learning initiatives — including model risk, data lineage, explainability, and ethical use
  • Conduct data maturity assessments and develop improvement roadmaps
  • Establish data cataloguing, classification, and lineage capabilities
  • Advise on the integration of AI governance within the broader data governance framework
  • Work with IT, legal, compliance, and business teams to embed governance practices across the organisation
  • Align all frameworks with the client's parent company standards and international best practice (DAMA-DMBOK, ISO 8000, NIST AI RMF)

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in data management, data governance, and/or AI governance
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise data governance frameworks in large, complex organisations
  • Strong knowledge of AI governance principles, model risk management, and responsible AI frameworks
  • Experience in the energy, petrochemical, or industrial sector strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with major national energy company data and digital standards in the Gulf region is a distinct advantage
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills at senior level
