PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for managing and overseeing the planning and scheduling aspects of construction projects from inception to completion. The role involves coordinating with various project stakeholders, ensuring timelines and budgets are maintained, and providing solutions to maintain project progress in alignment with project goals and client expectations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop, update, and monitor project schedules, resource allocations, and critical path activities using advanced project management software (e.g., Primavera P6).
  • Collaborate with project management, site teams, and subcontractors to ensure schedules are aligned with project objectives and contract timelines.
  • Perform detailed analysis of project timelines, identifying potential risks and proposing corrective actions to mitigate delays and ensure timely project completion.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive project progress reports, including progress S-curves, look-ahead schedules, and variance analyses.
  • Coordinate with site engineers, procurement teams, and other departments to ensure alignment of resources, materials, and timelines.
  • Conduct time-impact analyses to assess the implications of changes and variations on project timelines.
  • Ensure full compliance with contractual scheduling obligations, including preparation and submission of extension of time (EOT) claims when necessary.
  • Support tendering processes by developing baseline schedules, reviewing tender documents, and providing input on project timelines and resource needs.
  • Provide guidance to junior planning engineers and actively contribute to improving planning processes and methodologies within the organization.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the GCC, with a strong preference for experience in UAE-based contracting companies.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP or PMI-SP) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean Construction principles is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with local UAE regulations, authorities, and construction practices.
  • Strong knowledge of construction scheduling principles, project life cycle, and contract management.
  • Proven experience in preparing EOT claims, delay analysis, and time impact assessments.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and manage project risks and delays.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills to effectively liaise with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
