About the job GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for investigating and analyzing the physical properties of soil, rock, and other subsurface materials to design foundations, slopes, retaining structures, and other civil engineering projects. This role involves conducting fieldwork, laboratory testing, and using specialized software to assess the stability, risk, and safety of construction projects. The Geotechnical Engineer collaborates closely with civil engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure that designs are safe, efficient, and compliant with relevant regulations. He will get to design and review the design of various types of structures including bridges, tunnels, underpasses, retaining walls, car parks, and public infrastructure-related buildings/structures.

  • Planning and preparing detailed scope of geotechnical investigations and geophysical surveys to conduct site investigations on large scale projects (onshore and marine)
  • Prepare required project specifications to conduct site investigations for various structures including large pipelines, tunnels, marine outfalls, shafts, pumping station, lagoons, underpass, roads, bridges and basements.
  • Evaluate and classification of subsurface conditions through borehole logs, field testing and lab test results, developing ground models, profiles, and rock mass characterization.
  • Perform statistical analysis to establish characteristic parameters for soil & rocks in accordance with Eurocode.
  • Prepare and review Geotechnical Factual Report (GFR), Geotechnical Interpretative Report (GIR), Geotechnical Baseline Reports (GBRs), and Geotechnical Design Report (GDR) including producing calculations, technical notes, design drawings and technical specifications
  • Perform ground / geotechnical Risk Assessment for karstic features, deep excavations, micro tunnelling, etc.
  • Perform and review geotechnical analysis and calculations for bearing capacity, settlement, soil and rock slope stability, excavations support systems in soil and rock, retaining walls etc.
