ELECTRICAL BIM MODELER
About the job ELECTRICAL BIM MODELER
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical System Modeling:
- Create detailed 3D models for electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage systems, within BIM software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD MEP).
- Design and model electrical networks in infrastructure projects (e.g., street lighting, electrical distribution systems, and substations).
- Collaboration with Other Disciplines:
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and structural teams to integrate electrical systems into the broader infrastructure model.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to ensure the electrical systems meet the necessary requirements and standards.
- Clash Detection and Resolution:
- Use BIM software (e.g., Navisworks) to identify and resolve clashes between electrical systems and other building or infrastructure elements, such as ducts, pipes, or structural components.
- Proactively resolve design and installation conflicts early in the process to minimize costly changes during construction.
- Preparation of Documentation:
- Generate electrical drawings, schedules, specifications, and reports from the BIM model.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, standards, and safety codes (e.g., NEC, IEC, or local electrical standards).
- Energy and Performance Analysis:
- Use BIM for energy modeling and performance analysis to ensure efficiency in electrical systems, particularly in sustainable infrastructure projects.
- Analyze lighting, power distribution, and electrical load requirements to optimize system performance and reduce energy consumption.
- Construction Support:
- Provide BIM data and models to support the construction phase, ensuring that electrical systems are installed according to the design specifications.
- Assist with project management by tracking changes, modifications, and ensuring that the as-built model accurately reflects what has been constructed.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- BIM Software Proficiency: Experience with Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, or other BIM tools.
- Electrical Design Understanding: Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, standards, and practices, including power distribution, lighting, and communication systems.
- Infrastructure Project Experience: Experience in designing electrical systems for large-scale infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, transportation hubs, water treatment facilities, or industrial plants.
- Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, managing communication between electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural teams.
- Clash Detection and BIM Coordination: Familiarity with tools like Navisworks or Solibri for clash detection and model coordination.
- Codes and Standards Knowledge: In-depth understanding of local electrical codes and standards (such as NEC or IEC) as they apply to infrastructure projects.
