PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Rotating Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of rotating equipment in the oil and gas industry. The role involves ensuring the reliability and integrity of critical machinery such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and fans, which are vital for continuous operations in upstream, midstream, and downstream facilities. The engineer will work closely with other disciplines to optimize equipment performance, reduce downtime, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and review technical specifications, datasheets, and design documents for rotating equipment, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Recommend appropriate rotating machinery for specific applications, considering factors such as efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of rotating equipment, ensuring proper alignment, balancing, and compliance with design specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of rotating equipment to identify and resolve potential issues before they lead to equipment failure.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems, implementing corrective actions promptly.
  • Analyze equipment performance data to identify opportunities for improvement, implement modifications, and optimize operating conditions.
  • Liaise with vendors and contractors to ensure quality and timely delivery of rotating equipment and spare parts.
  • Manage service contracts and vendor performance.
  • Ensure all rotating equipment complies with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and participate in safety audits.
  • Provide technical support during the project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, detailed design, construction, and start-up phases.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports, including maintenance records, inspection reports, and performance analyses.
  • Update equipment documentation as required.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., API, ASME) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering within the oil and gas industry, including experience with pumps, compressors, turbines, and other critical machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, material selection, vibration analysis, and reliability engineering.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, and ISO.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools for design, analysis, and simulation (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, CAESAR II).
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues in rotating equipment, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
  • Experience in managing rotating equipment projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Strong commitment to safety, with knowledge of HSE practices and the ability to enforce safety standards in all aspects of work.
