PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring effective time management for construction projects. This role requires a solid understanding of construction processes and planning principles, as well as proficiency in scheduling software.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules using project planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) to ensure efficient use of resources and timely project delivery.
- Monitor and update project schedules regularly to reflect progress, identify delays, and adjust plans to meet project objectives.
- Collaborate with project managers, site teams, and subcontractors to align schedules with project requirements and contractual obligations.
- Prepare project progress reports, including weekly and monthly updates, look-ahead schedules, and earned value analysis.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to gather information on project status and report any deviations from the baseline schedule.
- Identify potential schedule risks and propose mitigation measures to ensure adherence to timelines and minimize delays.
- Assist in preparing and submitting extension of time (EOT) claims, as needed, and support delay analysis to assess impact on project schedules.
- Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and site teams to ensure alignment of schedule with resource allocation, material availability, and project milestones.
- Support the tendering process by reviewing project requirements, developing preliminary schedules, and providing input on timelines.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Must have 5-7+ years of relevant experience in the GCC, preferably with experience in UAE contracting companies.
- Proficiency in project planning and scheduling software, including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of construction scheduling techniques, critical path method (CPM), and resource allocation.
- Ability to analyze and manage project risks and delays effectively.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to adapt schedules as necessary.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple project schedules in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP or PMI-SP) is an asset.
- Experience with Lean Construction principles and practices is advantageous.
- Familiarity with UAE construction regulations and practices.
VERTICAL: ENGINEERING
