Purpose of the job:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instrumentation engineering, with specific experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining instrumentation systems for upstream oil & gas facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop instrumentation systems for upstream oil & gas projects, including wellhead platforms, offshore production facilities, and onshore processing plants.
- Provide technical expertise and support throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development and detailed engineering to construction, commissioning, and operations.
- Select appropriate instrumentation devices and equipment based on project requirements, industry standards, and client specifications.
- Prepare detailed instrumentation specifications, datasheets, and drawings in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes and standards (e.g., API, ANSI, ISA).
- Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to review vendor proposals, evaluate technical bids, and ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Oversee the installation, integration, and testing of instrumentation systems and equipment to ensure compliance with design requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct hazardous area classification studies and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., NEC, IECEx, ATEX).
- Ensure that instrumentation systems and equipment meet all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, and participate in safety reviews and audits as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, and clients to ensure successful project execution and timely delivery of instrumentation deliverables.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and progress updates for internal stakeholders, clients, and regulatory authorities as required.
Qualifications:
- Candidate must be available to join immediately.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in instrumentation engineering, preferably in the upstream oil & gas industry.
- Proficiency in instrumentation design software and tools (e.g., SPI, SmartPlant Instrumentation, AutoCAD).
- Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and practices related to instrumentation design and engineering (e.g., API 500, ANSI/ISA 5.1, ISA S20).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, and vendors.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results within budget and schedule constraints.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices is desirable.
