Civil 3D Modeler with expertise in roadway design to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D to create accurate 3D models of roadways, highways, intersections, and other transportation-related infrastructure. The modeler will work closely with engineers and other professionals to develop design solutions, manage project data, and ensure the successful delivery of road design projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Roadway Design & Modeling:
- Create and modify 3D models of roads, streets, highways, interchanges, and other transportation infrastructure using Civil 3D.
- Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, cross-sections, grading, and corridor modeling.
- Design intersections, culverts, drainage systems, and other road-related infrastructure elements.
- Prepare and manage surface modeling for roadways and surrounding terrain, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Drainage and Grading:
- Model and design drainage systems (stormwater management, culverts, retention basins) using Civil 3D tools and in coordination with hydrology studies.
- Ensure proper grading for roadways, parking lots, and other civil infrastructure to meet project specifications and local standards.
- Coordination & Collaboration:
- Work closely with civil engineers, surveyors, and other team members to ensure accurate integration of the design model and data.
- Assist with the coordination of models and plans across various disciplines, including utilities and structural engineering.
- Ensure compliance with local standards, codes, and project-specific design criteria for roadways.
- Preparation of Design Drawings:
- Generate detailed construction drawings, plan sets, and design documentation from the 3D models, including profiles, cross-sections, grading plans, and plan view drawings.
- Develop and maintain design files, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
- Clash Detection & Coordination:
- Perform clash detection and coordination to identify and resolve conflicts between road design elements and other disciplines (e.g., utilities, structures) using tools like Navisworks or Civil 3Ds clash detection features.
- Data Management & File Handling:
- Maintain and organize design data, including surfaces, alignments, profiles, and corridor models, ensuring the integrity and accessibility of all project files.
- Manage and maintain standard templates for Civil 3D, ensuring efficient and consistent project workflows.
- Project Support:
- Provide ongoing support during the construction phase by providing as-built models, updates, and coordination with the construction team.
- Assist in troubleshooting issues related to design, site conditions, or software functionality.
- Quality Control & Compliance:
- Review and verify the accuracy of models and drawings to ensure that they comply with the required standards, codes, and regulations.
- Ensure that the designs follow the latest best practices, industry standards, and project specifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience working as a Civil 3D Modeler or Roadway Designer, with a focus on road and transportation infrastructure.
- Proven experience in roadway design and modeling for civil projects, including highways, streets, interchanges, and associated infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, including roadway design, grading, drainage modeling, and creating construction documents.
- Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of roadway design principles, including horizontal/vertical alignment, grading, pavement design, and drainage design.
- Familiarity with local design codes and standards for roadway projects.
- Knowledge of stormwater management systems, utilities, and environmental considerations related to road design.
- Software Skills:
- Expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D (corridor modeling, grading, surface modeling, etc.).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other project-related software.
- Experience using BIM and Clash Detection tools to coordinate and identify issues across disciplines.
