PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The purpose of the job of a Structural CAD Operator / Revit Modeler is to create detailed technical drawings and 3D models for structural engineering projects using both CAD software and Revit. These drawings and models are essential for the design, analysis, and construction of buildings, bridges, and other structures. The Structural CAD Operator / Revit Modeler works closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to translate their designs and specifications into accurate, precise, and clear drawings and models that guide the construction process.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D Revit models of structural components such as beams, columns, foundations, slabs, and trusses based on engineering designs and specifications.
- Develop accurate and constructible models that depict the structures layout and key details.
- Interpret and translate structural engineers designs, sketches, and specifications into precise CAD drawings and Revit models.
- Ensure that all dimensions, materials, and construction details are accurately represented.
- Produce and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, sections, elevations, and detailed views, derived from CAD and Revit models.
- Prepare and update construction drawings, reports, and other documentation as required.
- Participate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes, ensuring structural models are integrated with models from other disciplines (architecture, MEP).
- Perform clash detection and resolution to identify and address conflicts between structural and other systems.
- Conduct quality checks on drawings and models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to industry standards, building codes, and project specifications.
- Revise and correct drawings and models as necessary to address any errors or discrepancies.
- Work closely with structural engineers, architects, and other project team members to ensure that the drawings and models align with design intent and project requirements.
- Communicate effectively to resolve design issues and incorporate feedback from various stakeholders.
- Support the preparation of conceptual designs using 3D or CAD drafting tools.
- Manage BIM deliverables.
- Provide on-site support to validate or collect information to update As-Built CAD drawings/BIM models when required.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified engineering/architectural degree or diploma from a recognized institution is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in preparation of CAD drafting for varies Structure, (Bridges, Tunnels & Buildings, and handling BIM models (using AutoCAD & Revit).
- Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Previous experience with CAD/BIM, on large scale infrastructure projects such as railway transportation systems or metros would be preferred.
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD (2021) and above, Revit (2022) and above.
- Ability to manage BIM Models, documents and data submittals and capability to extract CAD drawings, and any required information (e.g. spreadsheets with quantities of various design/as-built elements).
- Ability to communicate well in a team environment and act efficiently on instructions.
- Has a positive attitude and the initiative to work with minimal supervision and deliver tasks in a timely manner.
