About the job STATIC MECHANICAL ENGINEER

We are seeking an experienced Static Mechanical Engineer to join our team, supporting the design and execution of a large-scale onshore oil and gas project in the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the engineering sector, with a particular focus on static mechanical design, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, and other static equipment. The candidate should have a solid background in Detailed Engineering, working to ensure that static mechanical systems meet the projects technical and safety standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design and engineering of static mechanical equipment, such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, and other critical infrastructure for oil and gas facilities.
  • Develop and review detailed engineering deliverables including drawings, datasheets, calculations, and specifications for static mechanical systems.
  • Perform mechanical design calculations (e.g., stress analysis, material selection, pressure design) to ensure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ASME VIII, ASME B31.3).
  • Review and approve vendor documentation for static equipment, ensuring it aligns with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure the integration and proper functioning of static mechanical systems within the overall project.
  • Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of the project, ensuring smooth installation and operation of static equipment.
  • Participate in hazard analysis and risk assessments related to the design, fabrication, and operation of static equipment.
  • Review and optimize static equipment designs for operational efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring the effective completion of tasks and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local regulations and international industry codes (API, ASME, ISO).
  • Support the preparation of procurement documents, ensuring equipment specifications are clear and meet project requirements.
  • Review and monitor the quality control processes during fabrication and installation of static equipment.
  • Assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues related to static mechanical systems during project execution.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Upto 5-10 years of experience in static mechanical engineering within the oil and gas industry, particularly in onshore projects.
  • Extensive experience in detailed engineering design for static mechanical systems, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and piping.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ASME, API, and ISO related to static mechanical equipment.
  • Proficient in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, CAESAR II, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with design calculations and stress analysis for static equipment.
  • Strong understanding of material selection, corrosion protection, and fabrication techniques for static mechanical systems.
  • Ability to lead and manage technical teams, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to schedules.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering high-quality, accurate engineering work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both technical and interpersonal.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate across different functions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.
  • Experience working in the Middle East, particularly in onshore oil and gas projects, is highly desirable.
