The I&C Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems for power projects. This role ensures that all I&C activities meet project specifications, industry standards, and HSSE requirements while supporting safe, timely, and high-quality project delivery.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Supervision & Oversight
- Monitor and supervise I&C works executed by the EPC contractor and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, IEC/ISA standards, and HSE regulations.
- Review and approve I&C installation and commissioning procedures.
- Ensure all I&C activities align with project objectives, schedules, and technical requirements.
Technical Review & Assurance
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, control philosophy reviews, and FATs.
- Review I&C engineering deliverables including drawings, instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, I/O lists, and control logic documents.
Interface Management
- Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to resolve interface issues.
- Act as the focal point for I&C technical queries, deviations, and non-conformance issues.
Commissioning Support
- Oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning activities including loop checks, instrument calibration, and signal verification.
- Verify compliance and integration of DCS/SCADA systems with overall plant systems.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, site activities, deviations, and resolutions.
- Prepare weekly progress reports highlighting risks, issues, progress, and achievements.
Compliance, Quality & HSSE
- Ensure I&C activities comply with QA/QC requirements and support audits and punch listing.
- Demonstrate full commitment to HSSE standards and the Incident and Injury Free philosophy.
- Report hazards, unsafe acts, incidents, or near misses immediately.
- Correctly use and maintain PPE; follow all HSSE procedures, work instructions, and permit requirements.
- Attend toolbox talks, HSSE meetings, and required safety trainings.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience as an I&C Engineer in power projects.
- Combined Cycle (CCGT) project experience is mandatory.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of I&C engineering principles, standards, and best practices.
- Proficiency in I&C design tools and CAD software.
- Excellent project management, coordination, and communication skills.
- Strong ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
