The Telecom Engineer will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and coordinating telecommunications engineering deliverables during the Engineering phase of onshore oil and gas projects. The role requires strong experience in FEED and Detailed Engineering / Detail Design, ensuring reliable communication systems, design quality, and compliance with project and industry standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and review telecommunications engineering deliverables including system architecture drawings, network layouts, equipment specifications, cable schedules, datasheets, and material take-offs (MTOs).
- Design and engineer telecom systems for onshore oil & gas facilities including Fiber Optic Networks, Structured Cabling Systems, Telephone Systems, CCTV, Public Address & General Alarm (PAGA), Access Control Systems, Radio Communication Systems, Microwave Systems, and LAN/WAN Networks.
- Review and interpret project specifications, client standards, vendor documentation, and multidisciplinary engineering inputs.
- Prepare telecom design calculations, equipment sizing, network architecture, and communication system layouts.
- Coordinate telecom engineering activities with electrical, instrumentation, process, mechanical, piping, and civil/structural disciplines to ensure seamless integration of systems.
- Prepare technical requisitions, equipment specifications, and support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations and vendor document reviews.
- Review telecom equipment layouts, cable routing drawings, fiber optic network designs, and communication system interfaces.
- Participate in design review meetings, HAZOP/HAZID studies, constructability reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination workshops.
- Ensure telecom systems are designed to meet operational, reliability, cybersecurity, and maintenance requirements.
- Review vendor packages and ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable international standards.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant standards, company procedures, and project quality requirements.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
- 6–12 years of experience in telecommunications engineering for onshore oil & gas projects.
- Proven experience in FEED and Detailed Engineering / Detail Design phases.
- Strong knowledge of industrial telecom systems including CCTV, PAGA, Access Control, Radio Systems, Fiber Optic Networks, LAN/WAN, and Structured Cabling.
- Familiarity with international standards and codes such as IEC, ITU, TIA/EIA, NFPA, and relevant oil & gas industry specifications.
- Experience in preparing telecom system specifications, technical requisitions, and vendor document reviews.
- Previous experience with EPC contractors or engineering consultancies is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of telecom network design, system integration, and communication infrastructure for industrial facilities.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and technical reporting skills.
