Role Summary
The Data Architect will play a critical role in establishing, operating, and enhancing enterprise-level data governance, data management, compliance, and risk frameworks. This role focuses on ensuring data assets are well-structured, classified, governed, and protected in alignment with national regulations and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance & Management
- Support implementation and ongoing operation of data governance policies, standards, and procedures
- Establish and maintain data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models
- Coordinate with business units to ensure compliance with approved data management practices
- Conduct data inventory, classification, and tagging in line with approved classification frameworks
- Support enterprise data cataloging, metadata management, and data quality initiatives
- Review, update, and maintain data governance artifacts and documentation
- Support governance committees through preparation of materials, action tracking, and reporting
- Manage and support data governance platforms and related tooling
Data Compliance & Controls
- Assist in compliance assessments linked to data governance and management requirements
- Support development of compliance frameworks aligned with national regulations
- Prepare compliance reports and maturity assessments for management review
- Contribute to data governance training and awareness programs
Data Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and manage enterprise data risks
- Conduct periodic data risk assessments and document findings
- Support mitigation plans and corrective actions to address identified risks
- Assess third-party data risks and support vendor compliance checks
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity, IT, Legal, and Compliance teams
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Computer Science, or related field
- 10 years of experience in data architecture, data governance, or data management
- Strong knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK, NDMO, and applicable ISO standards (ISO 38505, ISO 8000)
- Proven experience implementing data governance frameworks and operating models
- Experience with data classification, metadata management, data quality, and data catalogs
- Familiarity with governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Axon, or equivalents)
- Professional certifications such as CDMP, DGSP, or equivalent are highly desirable
- Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills
- Ability to simplify and explain complex data concepts to non-technical audiences
