ASSOCIATE HSE OFFICER
About the job ASSOCIATE HSE OFFICER
We are seeking a proactive Associate Health, Safety, Environment & Security (HSES) Officer to support site operations across industrial and construction projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on exposure to HSES practices, with the ability to assist in site inspections, compliance monitoring, incident support, and implementation of safety systems to ensure a safe working environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide field-level HSES support to ensure implementation of company safety systems and compliance with established standards and procedures
- Monitor and ensure compliance with company HSES policies and provide necessary feedback and guidance to site supervision
- Implement and communicate HSES procedures at site, ensuring they are understood and followed by the workforce
- Attend daily Toolbox Talk meetings and evaluate effectiveness; deliver briefings when required
- Conduct regular HSES inspections and identify hazards, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions
- Support site HSES campaigns, initiatives, and events to promote safety awareness
- Participate in Task Risk Assessment (TRA) reviews and conduct TRA quality surveys
- Conduct Shield for Life surveys on a regular or monthly basis
- Monitor gas installation/manifold inspections and report deficiencies
- Conduct periodic surveys including Summer Working Conditions, Working at Height, and Dropped Object assessments
- Support implementation and compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems at site
- Assist in emergency drills and respond to emergency situations when authorized
- Support incident investigations including evidence collection and reporting
- Carry out confined space gas testing when trained and authorized
- Inspect fire and safety equipment and spill kits, ensuring proper maintenance and reporting deficiencies
- Ensure implementation of hazard control processes such as TRA, JSA, HAZID, Take 5, and Stop-for-Safety
- Assist in delivering HSES briefings to employees and subcontractors
- Collect and report HSES data and statistics from site activities
- Participate in HSES walkthroughs and follow up on action items
- Ensure timely entry and tracking of SOAP cards in the HSES system
- Maintain compliance with HSE and information security policies and procedures
- Prepare reports, inspection records, and HSES documentation
- Ensure adherence to HSE policies, safety standards, and permit-to-work systems
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Secondary school education or equivalent qualification (Diploma preferred)
- 0–2 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, or Civil Construction industry
- Basic hands-on exposure to HSES practices including inspections, reporting, and compliance monitoring
- Familiarity with HSES documentation and processes such as PTW, TRA, and JSA
- Certification in IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA, or NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC)
- Training in Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification
- Basic knowledge of fire safety, first aid, and gas testing practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with workforce, supervisors, and management
- Ability to work as part of a team in a site-based environment
- Ability to respond to emergency situations and work under pressure
- Good understanding of HSES systems and their implementation in industrial operations
