To provide specialist instrumentation and control engineering expertise for Air Separation Units (ASU) and associated industrial gas facilities in the Middle East. The role supports FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, PMC, and brownfield projects, ensuring compliance with international standards, regional regulations, and client specifications typical of oil & gas, petrochemical, steel, and industrial gas sectors.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and execute I&C engineering activities for ASU plants, including air compression, purification, cold box, cryogenic distillation, storage, and product distribution systems.
- Develop and review control philosophies, I/O lists, instrument indexes, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, and cable schedules.
- Prepare and check instrument datasheets for transmitters, control valves, analyzers, and safety devices suitable for cryogenic and oxygen service.
- Design and review DCS, PLC, and SIS architectures, ensuring integration with packaged ASU units.
- Develop cause & effect diagrams, alarm management philosophies, and interlock descriptions.
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, LOPA, and QRA studies.
- Perform or review SIL assessments and SIF documentation as per IEC 61508 / IEC 61511.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, ISA, ATEX, IECEx, NFPA, API, ISO, and Middle East client standards (Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, PDO, QP, SABIC, Maaden).
- Ensure instrumentation is compliant with hazardous area classifications and local authority regulations.
- Review vendor and licensor documentation from industrial gas licensors
- Conduct technical bid evaluations and vendor clarifications.
- Coordinate with OEMs for compressors, expanders, analyzers, and cold box packages.
- Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning, and performance testing activities.
- Interface with process, mechanical, electrical, civil, and commissioning teams.
- Support construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up at site.
- Provide troubleshooting support for plant optimization, debottlenecking, and reliability improvement.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet project schedules and client milestones.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation / Control / Electrical Engineering.
- 8–15 years of experience in Instrumentation & Control engineering, with at least 5 years in ASU or industrial gas projects.
- Strong experience working on Middle East EPC / PMC projects.
- Experience with brownfield modifications in operating plants is highly desirable.
- Experience with DCS/PLC/SIS systems (Siemens, Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa).
- In-depth knowledge of cryogenic instrumentation and control systems.
- Strong understanding of oxygen service, low-temperature materials, and analyzer systems.
- Familiarity with Middle East project execution practices and documentation workflows.
- Willingness to work at remote project sites under Middle East conditions.
- Knowledge of local work permits, site safety practices, and construction norms is an advantage.
- Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or UAE projects.
- Familiarity with ADNOC standards.
- Exposure to Advanced Process Control (APC) or digitalization projects.
