About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our growing CPA firm. In this role, you will help to lead outsourced accounting engagements across a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring high-quality financial reporting, timely month-end closes, and proactive client communication.

In this role, you will direct, mentor, and manage bookkeepers and junior accountants to ensure maximum accuracy, strict compliance, and timely financial reporting across all client engagements. You'll serve as a operational leader dedicated to optimizing accounting workflows and delivering high quality accounting work within a highly diverse portfolio in many industries-- including real estate, manufacturing, construction, retail, restaurant, and service-based businesses. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, multi-client environment, possesses expert knowledge of US GAAP, and brings hands-on experience in job costing, WIP, and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities

Client Accounting & Financial Delivery

• Oversee full-cycle accounting functions for a diverse client portfolio, managing both accrual and cash-basis accounting workflows under US GAAP.

• Review and approve the daily/monthly work of staff accountants and bookkeepers, including bank reconciliations, AP/AR, payroll entries, and sales tax filings.

• Prepare, review, and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement packages (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, and custom management reports).

• Execute complex month-end close procedures, including adjusting journal entries, revenue recognition, inventory/COGS adjustments, and fixed asset depreciation schedules.

• Develop and maintain job costing models, Work-in-Progress (WIP) tracking, and project budgeting for construction, manufacturing, and real estate clients.

Review & Team Leadership

• Mentor and train junior staff, establishing standardized accounting workflows and ensuring quality control across all deliverables.

• Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts and resolve accounting discrepancies across multiple client entities.

• Coordinate with internal tax teams to ensure smooth year-end tax preparation and data handoffs.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in a CPA firm, public accounting, or multi-client advisory environment.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred).

• Technical Expertise: Demonstrated advanced mastery of US GAAP (both cash and accrual bases).

• Industry Focus: Direct experience managing accounting for construction (job costing/WIP), manufacturing/retail (inventory/COGS), real estate, or restaurant clients.

• Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online/Desktop, Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data management), and modern cloud accounting tools (e.g., Bill.com, Expensify, etc).

• Work Style: Proven ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize competing demands in a high-velocity, dynamic firm environment.

• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to lead meetings and draft communications for all levels of accounting literacy.
