Job Description:

The Director of Venue Technical Operations has overall responsibility of all technical facets. The position has full responsibility for all FM requirements, via the FM manager.

It is their responsibility that all equipment's are regularly maintained and inspected and that service agreements are in place and renewed when required. 

The Technical Manager should also ensure that all staff have has the correct training of the equipment's and that it is correctly documented. The role will give full venue technical advice and guidance to all event owners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • To oversee, via the FM Manager the day to day FM and event related venue technical requirements.
  • To ensure the venue is maintained in all aspects to ensure continuity of availability for hirers.
  • To ensure best industry practice is carried out by all venue technical personnel.
  • To be the key technical figure onsite overseeing move-ins, move- outs, all resident and incoming personnel and show operation.
  • To ensure any administration and accounting of technical resources is accurately maintained and excellent communication and handovers are received and given.
  • To ensure ongoing maintenance of equipment throughout the venue.
  • To ensure stock levels of consumable items and routine maintenance of technical equipment.
  • To maintain the safety of events and technical services provided.
  • Design and implement a venue familiarization and induction for stakeholders, event owners and staff.
  • To oversee provision of general maintenance and periodic testing of in house systems and equipment.
  • To ensure the technical team deliver an excellent customer service at all times and that all incoming companies receive adequate inductions, interaction and support.
  • Ensuring at all times compliance with Health & Safety regulations and to pursue any training requirements needed for specialist areas.
  • To effectively liaise with other departments in order to fulfil business requirements
  • The Technical Manager will have overall responsibility for MATV system, Videoboards Portable IT equipment such as projectors, screens, TV, DVD players, Portable PA equipment and maintenance, PA and AV Cables and connectors.
  • Deliver monthly reports to the GM.
  • Attend meetings with other stakeholders to improve event delivery and partner integration.
  • Form part of the senior management team to support the GM in the delivery of a successful venue.
  • Set clear goals and expectations as a key part of managing performance. 
  • Provide meaningful and timely performance feedback and coaching and use performance management tools to track and discuss performance.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the department to guarantee employees and guests safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude.

Position Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum 5-year senior venue technical experience.
  • A working knowledge of all venue technical equipment.
  • A strong professional background in electrical systems, electronics and IT.
  • Experience of successfully working to strict time deadlines with the ability to effectively prioritize a range of tasks.
  • The ability to effectively manage own and others time.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package.
  • A logical and systematic approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to achieve best practice within commercial competitive parameters.
  • Mechanical Engineering skills would be an advantage.
  • Thorough knowledge of venue FM requirements.
  • Understanding of technical integration from non-event days to event days.
