About the job PLC Software Engineer
PLC Software Engineer
Are you a PLC Engineer who looks beyond mere programming? Do you thrive on developing smart software solutions and improving standards and quality? Would you like to work on high-quality specialised machinery used worldwide in the food, pharmaceutical and non-food industries? Then we have the job for you!
This is what you'll be doing as a PLC Software Engineer
As a Software Engineer, you'll be part of our software team within Engineering. Together with your fellow Software Engineers, you'll work on the development, improvement and release of software for our specialised machines. You'll ensure that machines operate reliably, safely and in accordance with the relevant standards.
You will develop, test and commission PLC software for our machines, primarily using Beckhoff PLCs and TwinCAT. In doing so, you will translate customer requirements and machine specifications into smart and robust software solutions. You will regularly work on integrations with external systems and other PLC platforms, meaning no two projects are the same.
As well as programming, you will play a key role in managing, documenting and releasing software. You will actively contribute ideas on standardisation, reusability and the quality of our software architecture. You will also identify opportunities for improvement and help to further professionalise our software standards.
A significant part of your work will take place at our workshop, where you will test, calibrate and optimise machinery. You will also work closely with colleagues from Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Service to achieve the best possible end result together. From time to time, you will visit customers on site to carry out commissioning or provide support.
The team
You will join the Software Engineering team within the Engineering department. You will work alongside five Software Engineers and a Coordinator on the development and management of our machine control systems. The Engineering department is responsible for bringing new machines into service and for the controlled release of software and drawings for new machine lines. The team has an open and informal atmosphere. Colleagues help one another, share knowledge and work together on technical challenges and continuous improvements. There is plenty of scope to take the initiative and contribute ideas on innovations and standardisation.
Want to work as a go-getter in the high-tech sector?
Then this is the place for you. Together with your colleagues from various departments, you'll be delivering high-quality, technically advanced machines to customers all over the world. For example, for the fast and accurate counting of chocolate, medicines, vitamins, coffee pods or dishwasher tablets. It is a company with a rich history, rooted in the bulb-growing region. At the same time, we push our boundaries every day and are now among the international leaders in the food, non-food and pharmaceutical sectors! We owe this position to our technical expertise and teamwork. We help one another and all feel equally responsible for achieving a good result. And when we've achieved a great success? Then, of course, we all raise a glass to celebrate.
What we are looking for:
HBO level of working and thinking, preferably in industrial automation, electrical engineering or mechatronics
Experience with Beckhoff PLCs and TwinCAT 2/3 in the field of mechanical engineering
Familiarity with external systems and PLC integrations (including Siemens and Schneider)
An affinity for standardisation, a structured approach to work and software quality
Independent, team-oriented and quality-conscious
Good command of Dutch and English
Requirements:
Knowledge of C# and PC-based control systems
Experience with Structured Text (ST) and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
Experience with legacy software or an interest in modernization
