Client is building the future of conversational commerce in Latin America by enabling retailers to engage customers directly through WhatsApp. As a VC-backed Series B startup, the company operates remotely with offices in San Francisco, São Paulo, and Bogotá.

Role Summary
Client seeks a senior AI engineer with proven experience building conversational AI solutions for enterprise clients. You will design, prototype, and deploy custom AI experiences for large retailers, collaborating with sales, product, and platform teams to deliver impactful results. This role emphasizes both technical execution and client-facing collaboration, with a preference for candidates near São Paulo.

Responsibilities

• Prototype, build, and launch AI experiences for enterprise clients.
• Partner with product, sales, and client teams to define and refine requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams in San Francisco to leverage and enhance AI platform capabilities.
• Provide feedback to platform teams to improve support for customer-facing AI solutions.
• Establish and track AI business metrics to optimize performance.
• Plan work timelines, negotiate delivery schedules, and balance client needs with technical feasibility.

Requirements

• Based in Brazil and fluent in English (C1 level).
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in the technology industry.
• 2+ years of experience building and launching AI products.
• Experience in fast-paced, customer-focused environments.
• Proficiency in backend development using Python.
• Experience with frontend development, agentic systems, and modern frameworks is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with TypeScript is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work through ambiguity and deliver high-quality results.
• Curiosity and adaptability to fast-evolving AI technologies.
• Experience with prompting, defining agent success metrics, and familiarity with recent LLM advancements.
