Head of Legal (Crypto) Europe

Client is a London-based crypto-asset investment firm operating innovative investment strategies at the frontier of digital assets, supported by proprietary data infrastructure and deep domain expertise. The team combines institutional finance experience, DeFi-native insight, and advanced analytics.

Client is hiring a Head of Legal who will report directly to the COO to lead legal, regulatory, and operational activities across the firm. This is a senior, cross-functional role supporting fund regulation, compliance, commercial structuring, and strategic execution across multiple jurisdictions. You will work closely with leadership, internal teams, and external partners to ensure operations maintain institutional-grade precision as the firm continues to expand globally.

Responsibilities

Legal & Compliance

• Manage regulatory licensing and cross-jurisdictional legal structures
• Support and challenge commercial deal structuring and negotiation
• Ensure compliance across sales, marketing, and corporate communications
• Advise on legal and regulatory aspects of product development
• Oversee legal entity governance and new corporate structures
• Manage intellectual property protection and data privacy compliance

Requirements

• 6+ years of legal or legal operations experience within crypto, asset management, or financial services
• Appreciation of digital assets and crypto-native legal frameworks
• Qualified lawyer or equivalent experience in a senior legal function
• Strong understanding of financial regulations across multiple jurisdictions (e.g., FCA, SEC, MiCA, offshore fund regimes)
• Proven experience managing legal entity structuring, fund governance, and cross-border operations
• Hands-on experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations and intellectual property protection
• Experience working with external counsel and regulators
