Overview:
Our client is looking for an experienced Chief Geotechnical Engineer - Projects (or Project Manager - Geotechnical) to play a pivotal role in balancing technical expertise with leadership and communication skills. This head office-based position involves regular site travel, focusing on underground operations with some open-pit exposure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentoring and Training: Develop and guide geotechnical teams, fostering continuous improvement.
- Systems Development: Design and implement systems to enhance safety, efficiency, and geotechnical stability.
- Short-term Projects: Manage geotechnical projects to meet deadlines and safety standards.
- Technical Expertise: Identify risks, provide recommendations, and ensure industry best practices.
- Driving Change: Influence stakeholders and present clear business cases for new systems and processes.
What Youll Need:
- A degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geology or Mining Engineering.
- Extensive underground mining experience, with some open-pit exposure.
- A proven track record in leading and mentoring teams.
- Strong systems development and project management experience.
- Exceptional communication skills to influence and drive change.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
