Mining Manager - Underground

Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Underground Manager with proven expertise in managing underground mining operations. This role requires a dynamic leader experienced in expatriate assignments, ideally within gold mining operations. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in stoping and underground development, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all underground operations, including development, stoping, and production, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.
• Implement and maintain robust health, safety, and environmental standards in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to a multinational workforce, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Analyze operational performance and implement strategies to optimize production and reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure alignment of mine plans with short- and long-term objectives.
• Address operational challenges proactively, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on production.
• Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new technologies or processes to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Extensive experience in underground mining operations, with a focus on stoping and hardrock mining.
• Previous expatriate experience in a leadership role, preferably in challenging or remote locations.
• Strong technical knowledge of underground mining methods, equipment, and systems.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage diverse teams.
• A track record of successfully achieving production targets while maintaining safety and cost controls.
• Familiarity with mine planning software and data analysis tools is an advantage.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in mining engineering or a related field.
