About the job Group Geologist
Role Overview
A newly created, critical leadership role in a well-funded junior gold exploration company. As Group Geologist (Director-level), you'll oversee all geological aspects of exploration and resource geology, driving the companys exploration strategy to advance the project to Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) and beyond.
You will be responsible for leading the geological team, enforcing best practices, and ensuring the integrity of resource data. This role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the company's growth as it expands its resource base in Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all geological functions at Siguiri Gold, overseeing exploration activities, planning, execution, and reporting.
- Supervise the resource geology team, ensuring accurate mineral resource estimation in line with industry best practices.
- Set and enforce geological standards to drive high-quality exploration and resource estimation.
- Develop and implement an exploration strategy to expand Siguiri Gold's resource base.
- Build and mentor a high-performing geological team, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and excellence.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including preparing technical reports and submissions.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in geology and exploration.
- Provide regular updates to the CEO and senior management on exploration progress, resource estimates, and growth opportunities.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelors or Masters in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field.
- Experience: 10+ years in exploration and resource geology with a proven track record in mineral resource estimation.
- Experience in Gold Exploration: Preferably in Africa.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with geological software (e.g., Surpac, Datamine) for resource modeling and estimation.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a proven ability to build and lead a small geological team.
- Communication: Excellent reporting and communication skills, with the ability to present data to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Languages: Fluency in English required; French proficiency is a plus.
- Willingness to be based in country on slightly longer stints during key project milestones. Traditional roster schedule for remote exploration sites.
