Lead Geologist

We are seeking an experienced Lead Superintendent Geologist to oversee geological operations for a large-scale mining project. This role requires a seasoned professional with expertise in open-pit mining, copper resource management, and leading diverse teams in complex operational environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Leadership: Direct and manage the geological team, ensuring efficient delivery of resource models, grade control, and reconciliation processes.
• Resource Management: Oversee resource definition, classification, and reporting to ensure optimal extraction strategies and compliance with industry standards.
• Technical Oversight: Provide advanced geological interpretation and contribute to the development of mine plans and schedules.
• Team Development: Mentor and lead a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement long-term operational strategies that maximize resource value.
• Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to local and international mining regulations and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key liaison between geological teams, operations, and senior management, providing insights and recommendations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience: Minimum 10 years of geology experience in large-scale mining operations, with a strong focus on open-pit copper mining.
• Leadership: Proven track record of leading and developing geological teams in an expatriate environment.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in geological modeling software and advanced resource estimation techniques.
• Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
• Adaptability: Strong ability to thrive in diverse cultural settings and challenging operational conditions.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
