About the Role
As a Principal Resource Geologist, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing resource models, integrating geometallurgical data, and enhancing orebody knowledge to improve mine planning and processing performance.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Work
- Develop and maintain high-quality resource models incorporating geometallurgical parameters.
- Conduct geological modeling, wireframing, and resource estimation with a focus on orebody variability and metallurgical response.
- Perform geostatistical analysis to enhance predictive modeling for mining and processing performance.
- Validate and analyze drillhole, exploration, and production data to refine resource estimates.
- Conduct Competent Person/Qualified Person site visits and sign off on reports in compliance with JORC, NI 43-101, and other reporting standards.
- Collaborate with mine planning, processing, and operations teams to integrate orebody knowledge into production strategies.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to optimize resource utilization and metallurgical recoveries.
Operational & Time Management
- Maintain effective communication with mine management, technical teams, and operations.
- Ensure alignment between resource models and production strategies.
- Manage project schedules, deliverables, and technical logistics.
- Provide regular updates on project progress and resource model refinements.
Stakeholder & Business Engagement
- Work closely with geologists, mining engineers, and metallurgists to improve orebody understanding and extraction efficiency.
- Support mine planning teams with detailed orebody characterizations for optimized short-term and long-term planning.
- Engage with corporate teams on resource development strategies and project evaluations.
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc in Geoscience (MSc or higher preferred).
- Advanced coursework in geostatistics and geometallurgy (Geo-statistics degree preferred).
- 15+ years of industry experience, including 10+ years in resource estimation and geometallurgy.
- Strong multi-commodity experience with expertise in orebody knowledge and metallurgical behavior.
- Competent/Qualified Person status for at least one commodity.
Core Competencies
Technical
- Strong understanding of orebody variability, geometallurgy, and mineral processing implications.
- Expertise in advanced estimation techniques, geostatistics, and public reporting (JORC, NI 43-101).
- Proficiency in drilling, sampling techniques, database software, 3D modeling, estimation software, and GIS tools.
Behavioral
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
- Analytical thinking with a problem-solving mindset.
